Skincare | Lixirskin

Since I had my boy, I’ve sleepily slipped into a habit of restocking on skincare that I am familiar with and slapping it on without much thought. I was absolutely due a skincare update and I didn’t hesitate to treat myself to a couple of Lixirskin’s pretty pink tubes of promising potions.

To my nose, this doesn’t smell very nice at all, but it is really worth holding my breath for a few minutes while I wait for it to work its magic. The paste comes out of the tube with the consistency similar to a cleansing balm. It spreads onto the skin with ease and feels a bit like an oil gel. I use it every morning, across my entire face and neck, leave it on for about 5 minutes and then use a warm clean wash cloth to take it off. It comes off like a good cleanser leaving my skin feeling clean and revived. After a few days, the difference it made to my skin actually made me smile at my reflection. My skin feels smoother and looks brighter with a glow that I last saw when I used to get more sleep and have more time to spend on beauty routines! I love this stuff even though it smells awful – it works for me.

In all honesty, after a week of using this day and night, I was a bit underwhelmed. Whilst I really liked it instantly as a day cream, I felt that it was a rather lacking in oomph as a night cream. Today, about a month later, I still use it at night over a blob of  The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and it feels much more nourishing on my skin. The Emulsion sinks into the skin quickly, it feels comfortable, imparts a dewy finish and smells wonderful.

Lixirskin’s manifesto based on “universal essentials for everyday skin needs and targeted night care for skin concerns – an advanced yet relaxed approach to good skin” really resonates with me and having tried these two items, I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase them together with one of Lixirskin’s Night Switches.
