| Recurring Themes | Chouchin

One of my favourite sights are clusters of chouchin emblazoned with the names of sponsors and patrons which skirt the fringes of temples in Japan against the night sky. It is no surprise then that this has become a photographic obsession of sorts for us.

Chouchin in the Japanese word for paper lanterns - just in case you have not already guessed. They are a common sight throughout the country and variations can be found outside restaurants and bars too.
