| Photo Diary | Olive Trees

Old-old trees and rusty water tanks. Just a few of my favourite things and I was so pleased to see them en route to a beach in Alykanas.

Nature seems to have shrugged off any attempt at uniformity with Olive trees leaving them so full of character. Their trunks are gnarled and twisted into shapes that make my imagination contort creatures out of them. Their leaves have a silvery lustre that lends an extra feeling of sagely-ness about them. Olive trees here made me think that if they could talk, they would have all the ancient wisdom a heart could take.

  1. Did you touch the water tank? I imagine it felt all bumpy and gritty.

  2. Yes Mat. And I am a right weirdo - it made me feel like scratching the whole tank. I am a bit ashamed to admit this.

  3. Haha interesting your fascination with rusty water tanks! The rust makes it look like part of nature, almost.

  4. Olive trees, to me, always seem to prove that beauty is skin deep - how else could something so strange looking yield such wonderful fruit?

  9. I think so too Jane. And rust comes when nature takes something right? It's poetic to me somehow.

  10. Now you've got me thinking! What if they are totally bonkers and only want to talk about bread or something like that? That would be so funny!

A visit to Greece is really worth it. Much better weather than UK and new foods to try also very reasonable to get to!
