| Hiro Says | Robots

I like robots. I bought these two cheeky chappies over 15 years ago. What I really wanted was an original 1950's Japanese tinplate battery robot but they were big money back then and they are even bigger money today.

My father used to tell me that Japan rebuilt itself after the war by manufacturing these toys.

Today, I would really like to own a Liliput Robot from the 1940's. They are very hard to find and the cost reflects this. One fetched £540 in Christies back in 2005. Yeah........WOW!

If you would like to read more about it, I found an interesting article on tinplate toys HERE

  1. amazing. i don't know much about toy robots and tinplate toys but they were such big part of my life growing up in korea. of course all the anime influence robots were super popular among boys and since i had an older brother i thought they were pretty cool too. and my brother and i used to play in the bath tub making astro boy ears. now my husband and i are all about gundam and we collect little plastic sd models at home. :)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note, they are the stuff that keeps us going.
