| Eye Spy | An Artist's Studio

An artist's studio feels like a sacred space to me. It's where ideas find form. Where things begin and end. In many ways, I suppose that it is like a heart on a plate, personal, beautiful, messy, candid.

I felt so privileged when a friend of ours allowed us to photograph his space for the blog. We loved the textures of light that he had guided across the room and the spell that he cast in his studio.

Diego Mallo is so very talented and his style so skillfully varied and I always look forward to seeing what he will do next.

  1. Love this as a feature, nice one Yasumi. Thanks for the comment on Loake yesterday, my grandad was a curious fellow with a big heart and kind nature. I've never met my real dad so he was like a father to me. Sadly he passed away when I was 15, before I really had the time to enjoy his company in full. I remember him deary though. Glad you and Hiro enjoyed the post, so did I!

  2. This is so wonderful...love an artist's studio, amazing and full of so much creativity and thoughts. I want to play in the paints :)) xx

  3. beautiful space. my mama was an oil painter and she had a dedicated space in the house for her things. i loved that space so much and now that i think of it, i'm so glad that my mama let me touch and feel all her precious art things and didn't get annoyed that i did. :) i still can remember how the old dried up paint on my fingers from touching her painter's palette and on her finished paintings. oh how i would love to feel and see them again.

  4. What a wonderful, magical space - the layers of vivid paint and used paper towels look almost like a landscape. The colours and textures are utterly stunning.

  5. I can almost smell the paint, the terracotta, the paint thinner wafting like incense. It is a sacred space indeed. Thanks for sharing this with us.

  6. So cool and vivid and vital looking

Thank you for taking the time to leave a note, they are the stuff that keeps us going.
