Flame Cakes are Delicious Things

A truly moreish dish that we sampled in Berlin was flammkuchen.

Flammkuchen is like a super duper skinny thin light as a feather pizza base with a choice of various toppings. The main difference that I noted between this and a pizza is that this is a lot lighter and completely lacking in tomato base.

We chose a spinach and tomato with cheese flammkuchen that was so fresh and tasty and a bacon and cream cheese one that was also delicious.

I believe this is also known as tarte flambee in France.

  1. You are making me so hungry!! My new favourite pizza is a 'white' pie which doesn't have a tomato base at all - I like tomatoes, just not being overwhelmed with tomato sauce (I prefer the cheese and bread on its own) so these look perfect!!

  5. I loved reading your 'about'. Starting a blog to bring in some magic, instead of awaiting for it to fall upon... I totally agree with that kind of spirit! And on the top, you are doing a charming job at it!

Come in for a visit, if ever inclined... dear!
