Pub Crumble

Many go to the pub for a pint.

I go to the pub on Sundays for a hot sticky crumble.
My favourite cumble at the moment comes out of the ovens at The Duke of Wellington (or as we nick-name it; The Duke of Welly) pub in Dalston.

They do a delicious plum crumble but this time I went for the apple and blackberry offering and it was smashing! I like my crumble tart, tangy and gooey with a good dollop of cream to temper it.

The Duke of Wellington occupies a plot that has hosted a pub since 1842.
These days it an unpretentious drinking hole that does some tasty pub grub.

A right mix of people wind up here.

  10. Yum, I love crumble! My favourite is apple, but I do peach ones in the summer since they are so cheap :)

I love the idea of using old bottles as candle holders - though I suppose you'd have to make sure they were REALLY empty just to be sure they wouldn't be an even bigger fire hazard than just being a candle.

  15. My favorite Pub makes the most amazing shepard's pie..I mean AMAZING!! I went there last Sat & ordered the 'man' sized plate of it & a table of guys next to us said there's no way I could eat it. I did AND I ate dessert. tsk, tsk!! Don't mess with a hungry woman.

That crumble looks delicious! I rarely go out just for dessert..I'm not really a sweet tooth type of person..
