Reviews and Loose Screws

You must be a little fed up of me flogging fings on here!? It is high time that I did a little review and blabbed on about other bits and bobs!
The thing about making friends in London is that so many people seem to be in a state of transition. Here today - off tomorrow; that kind of thing. So when a buddy of mine plotted her return to her homeland she dumped some super things on me to lighten her load. Naturally, I was more than happy to help a friend in need.
She left this with me:
YSL 3 in One Cleansing Water Radiance Revealer

I have been using this dutifully for the past 10 days and here is my assessment:

Smells rather posh! Sort of citrus, woody, clean (not obviously like yuzu). Takes off make up nice and easy and leaves no icky residue (it is oil free). Stings like a bumble bee when you use it to remove eye make up but other than that it is a breezey way to remove a plastering of make up without rubbing.

DOES THIS REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING?

It reminds me of the Mandom Cleansing Express and SANA Easy Peel Facial Water. In fact you are much better off getting one of those than this poncy stuff (sorry YSL)!!! They do exactly the same thing and are a fraction of the price.

The YSL website Blurb:

"This pure, crystal-clear water, enriched with revitalising yuzu, ensures instant make-up removal for the face and eyes, while toning the skin."

More giftage from my buddy!

She was adamant that the Shu Uemura Blush in Gold 94 would bring some warmth to my anaemic face and that the MAC MSF in Soft & Gentle would add some zing to my complexion.

She was sooooo right! I am loving these things!

I would like to invite you to take a little mosey with me through my little make up stash!

Let's start with my drawers ....oh er missus, I mean my top drawer!

I like these muji organisers! Cheap and brilliant.

Top drawer = eye pencils and mascara.

Those super skinny precision ambition eyeliners from Japan have my heart. My favourites are the KATE Super Sharp liners and the Lavshuca Slim Liner.

Today's loose screw is my admission to wanting start shaped boiled eggs! Found this contraption in Japan Centre and I will give it a go very soon!

Star shaped eggs would make anyone smile wouldn't they?

Before I head back to my pliers and shiny fings I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all that have supported the return of Worship at the House of Blues to jewellery making!
THANK YOU!!!!

Pretty Things That Caught My Eye - Clocks

Gather round folks for I have much to report on in this edition of "Pretty Things That Caught My Eye".
This time round I have been gawping at Clocks. The measure of that old Master that we call Time.
Worship at the House of Blues Loves Clocks and here are but a few of my favourites.

Cucu Designed by Pascal Tarabay for Diamantini & Domeniconi in 2005

Transforming 3D tradition to 2D modern .

More details here!

Millelancette designed by Fabrica in 2009 for Diamantini & Domeniconi

Silver Ghost Clock Designed by Yee Ling Wan

Get yours here

Designed by one of my favourite product designers for an exhibition for Isetan Living. There is little that Naoto Fukasawa designs that I don't like.

We actually own the clock above. Known as the Eye Clock (strangely enough) and designed by George Nelson in 1957. There was something rather African about it, which is why we bought it from Vitra.

Eye Clock details Here!

The Koekoek Clock Designed by Thornsten Van Elten and made with ceramic and feathers.

I actually want this clock for my future "daydreaming chamber" haha.

More details here!

So there you have it! I am afraid that I am a rather detail obsessed kook. I spend far too long wandering about design stores. The only reason I do it is to seek out things that really reflect my personality. Our little home is filled with curious little things that tell stories about us both. That's how we like it.

Eye Spy.....Cornelie Tollens

It seems that whenever I post one of my non vanity related post I drop a follower or two. Isn't that a giggle?

TRUTH IS:

I see this blog as a sort of pastiche of my mental. A potpourri of me. A caricature? maybe! But an honest one nonetheless. I think the idea of "following" is rather absurd. SMILE!!!!!

So, for my next I SPY....I have chosen a eye opener of an Artiste and this I dedicate to all the easily offended.

I SPY CORNELIE TOLLENS

Citron Confit Et Du Sucre Candi, 2002

The poetic travelling of a weary mind, 2007

Happiness, 2007

The Semen Of The Middle Ages 2, 1996

Emotions, 1997

I dedicate the last picture to me!!

Tell me you hate it! Call me a perv!! Say that it's captured your humour and set your day on fire....say sumfing?

Picking up the Pliers

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am dusting off my pliers and starting to make a couple of pretty shiny things again.

I have been collecting day dreams and whimsy and feel ready to once again weave them into wearable pieces for you to wonder about (thanks Steph for the encouragement). Please let me know if you are interested in seeing a preview.

I am not certain if I will be selling these items, I guess it depends on the response that I receive. Forgive my feebleness, I am afraid that I have lost confidence after the sneaky copying episode.

The Future is in my Pillow Lines.....

......so says my bestie in our brief but frenzied chat this morning.

I told her my tale of how I slept face down and awoke with a large rebellious crumple down my face!

Anyway back to my mega mash up of things to report on a Friday.

Thank you to a lovely friend who is "returning to the lands of her ancestors" (her words, not mine) and who left me with this pretty gift.

Dior Flower Blossom. How will I ever force myself to use it??

NOW FOR A RAVERS INTERLUDE

(glow sticks are optional)

I don't like doing reviews. I dont rave about many products but this is an exceptional exception!

I am not blessed with shiny straight glossy hair.

I like to think that it is my birthright but it just didn't happen. My mum had very coarse afro hair and so in turn I inherited coarse matte locks.

Since cutting my hair I have come to depend upon my trusty GHDs to keep my bob in shape.

BUT WE ALL KNOW:

Straightening irons can fry your hair with rabid excessive use!

So when my bestie (also a GHD freak) sent me a sample of the Shu Uemura White Tea Polishing Milk I was jumping like a joyful jelly bean.

THIS STUFF WORKS LIKE A MIRACLE!! It is a dream come true for me!!

WHY?
I spread a little bit through my damp hair and it helps my hair dry FASTER. Another godsend for me and my "takes hours to dry hair". Seriously drying my hair is like drying a wooly blanket.
It provides amazing heat and humidity protection
It smells delicate and clean.

    Amazing conditioning.

After attacking my hair with the GHDs...my hair comes out shiny, silky full of body and not a trace of frizz or coarseness. It's like I was born with perfect straight hair!!! Just like those pretty haired girls I saw in Tokyo *sniffles*.

One more thing..........it's greasy free and weightless!!

I was crapping it because this stuff is soooo hard to get hold of here! But lo and behold I found some in Rush Hair Salon in Moorgate for £19.50!! Yep a little pricey BUT it will last me and age!YAY!!!!!!!!!

Click here for more product Info: Shu Uemura Art of Hair

I ADORE YOU SHU!!! I REALLY DOOOOOO!!!! HEAT STYLING ADDICTS>>>>GET THIS!!!

Here are some more reviews and shtuff for those that feel me on this one:

Now for some Mary Quant! Remember her?

A Tokyo based buddy sent me 4 MQ single eye shadows and I really needed to find a place to keep them and my other odd shaped singles. I then stumbled across the website that much to my delight informed me that there is a stockist right here in London!!

So off I plodded to grab me a case for my little treasures! (Shown boxed at the top of the pic).

The MQ Eye Openers come in 120 different shades and finishes (about £6.00 each in UK). I love these two shades. They are part of the seasonal limited editions.

Here is my shiny new black freestyle case. Unfortunately it is not magnetic. I was just happy to find a case that looks soooo cute!

I promise to take pics for you once I have stuck my motley crew of shadows within it's shiny enclosure.

TIME FOR A SNACK I THINK!

I am NOT a macaron fan.

I AM a Laduree fan!

I was passing through Burlington Arcade on my way to meet Hiro and I stopped dead in my tracks when I spied the tiny little shop that resembled a golden cave filled with sweet delights.

I indulged and I am happy.

My absolute no hesistation favourite Macaron is the bergamot one (Earl Grey!!!!!) followed closely by the red fruits.

Learn more about Laduree : http://www.laduree.fr/index_en.htm

Donburi of the Week:

Sashimi-don!

We went a little loco and topped our rice with;
Sake (salmon), hotate (scallops), hamachi (yellow tail), tai (sea bream), ika (squid) and nori of course

Phew that was a looooooong post!

Wishing you all fab weekends.......if you are UK readers, watch out for ASBOs with fireworks!
